Dead space remake on steam10/7/2023 ![]() Motive Studio has delivered an instant classic and a true giant of the genre.” Read the full review through here.ĭead Space is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. It takes a masterpiece of the genre and allows its biggest strengths to shine brighter than they ever have, while also improving upon it in meaningful ways with smart changes and additions. In our review, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “ Dead Space is one of the best survival horror games ever made, and one of the greatest remakes of all time. Presumably, Dead Space is enjoying even stronger numbers when all platforms, including the consoles, are taken into account, but until we have to wait for official word on that from EA, it’s hard to be sure. It’s also worth keeping in mind that these numbers don’t represent the game’s complete player base on the platform, seeing as it is also available on PC via EA Play and the Epic Games Store. That, interestingly, has an all-time concurrent user count peak of 20,449 players. A fairer comparison would probably be Resident Evil 7, which, like Dead Space, was also a hardcore survival horror experience launching in a series that had lost a great deal of clout over the years until its launch. Of course, Dead Space’s numbers aren’t in the same category as, say, something like Resident Evil 2, though the latter obviously had way more cache backing it up when it launched in 2019. That far outmatches the numbers managed by any previous Dead Space release- though it’s worth pointing out that Steam was a much smaller platform back when they launched, and didn’t account for as much of the PC userbase as it does now. Especially on Steam, it looks like the game has got off to a solid start.Īt the time of writing, as per SteamDB, the Dead Space remake has hit a peak concurrent user count of 25,084 players on Steam, within just hours of releasing. The Dead Space remake is out now, launching on the back of widespread hype and anticipation, and unsurprisingly, it seems like people who’ve been looking forward to the game are already jumping in in droves. That's why I want to give the remake a chance.Dead Space has been on ice for a decade, but the franchise is back, and back with a bang. As such it made aiming under stress a bit difficult. ![]() *sigh* Dead Space 1 OG suffers from mouse acceleration because it was first made with consoles in mind. And there are versions of that around that have no DRM attached. I believe the first Dead Space from 2008 does not require a constant connection. It's a silly requirement that drives customers away. I find it most annoying to be connected to play a single player game. Originally posted by zenstrata:Sadly I must agree with this. (or whatever other DRM they have baked in) It must be Denuvo then, which is requiring the Broadband Connection. I DO want to get this game, but I don't want to get it only to learn I HAVE to be online just to play it. Outside of that, I'll wait for more information on that. "Nevertheless, Dead Space is apparently a regular Steam game with no extraneous client." Oh! That's good! :DĪlthough the possibility of Denuvo being lazily slapped into the game as an anti-piracy measure (I don't know why they would do that on Steam anyway). The upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will require Origin, according to its Steam page(opens in new tab)." "EA didn't say whether or not the decision is part of some broader plan to phase out the Origin client for Steam releases, but I doubt it. "Dead Space is native on Steam," said an EA rep when reached for comment." Another exception will be the Steam version of the Dead Space remake(opens in new tab), which releases in January. I was surprised to find that F1 2021 doesn't require Origin, for instance. ".That hasn't been true for every new EA-published game on Steam, though. I won't need to link anything just to play my copy of this once it's out, will I.? Kind of nervous about that. Does the Dead Space remake work on Steam Deck A slow survival horror game like Dead. Originally posted by Dexaldem:Exactly what the title asks. The Dead Space remake is now very playable on Steam Deck, and Polygon tested the experience. Or a normal controller will work just fine. And if you want to use a Keyboard and Mouse - make sure you get the Dead Space Mouse Fix. If you have not played Dead Space, the original game is still quite good looking, and very fun today (if you turn the graphics up.) Make sure you limit your PC's FPS to 60 or the physics in the game get really weird. ![]() Although I think even the GoG version will require you to register the game before it will run. Companies these days are way too possessive. It's a single player game, it should be playable offline. Originally posted by Dexaldem:Well, ♥♥♥♥.
